ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will host their twelfth annual Salute to the Military Night on Tuesday, Feb. 4, during the game against the New York Islanders at Verizon Center. Salute to the Military Night is an evening dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served the country in the armed forces.

More than 500 service members will be in attendance at Tuesday’s game. With the support of corporate sponsors the Capitals have provided thousands of complimentary tickets to military personnel and their dependents over the past twelve seasons.

The Capitals will pay tribute to the military throughout the evening through in-game and intermission activities. During pre-game warm-ups the Capitals will wear camouflage jerseys, which will be signed and auctioned off during the game at section 109. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one.

A wounded warrior will participate in a ceremonial puck drop, while the Capitals youth hockey flag tunnel will be comprised of players from Navy Youth Hockey. The ice crew will consist of members of the USA Warriors and National Capital Region Joint Military hockey teams. The second intermission will feature the USA Warriors hockey team in a skills competition.

In addition, Courage Caps and T-shirts will be sold starting at $20 at sections 104, 113 and 402 on the concourse and at the Team Store and stands throughout Verizon Center. This season Courage Caps are sponsored by Telos Corporation, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit TAPS.

Salute to the Military Night is made possible by the support of partners including ANSER, FedBid, GovX, Lockheed Martin, Northup Grumman, Objectvideo, Pratt Whitney-UTC, Sentrillion, Thales and United Associates.
