Kolzig Visits Burning Tree Elementary School, Accepts Donation
Kolzig addressed the students, who all gathered in the school’s multi-purpose room, and thanked them for their help raising funds for the foundation. He also talked to the group about the importance of understanding autism and addressed numerous questions the children had about the disorder. Kolzig, who has an autistic son, called on students one by one, answering each of their questions and teaching them about the illness that has affected he and his family since his son was diagnosed as an infant.
Four students presented Kolzig with a check for $834.54, an impressive total that the veteran goaltender announced that he would match after the assembly. After the check presentation ceremony, Kolzig signed autographs for each and every one of the students, who also received a Capitals rally towel and Kolzig player card.
Kolzig’s charitable foundation, Athletes Against Autism (Triple A), is an initiative of Cure Autism Now that raises awareness and funds for autism research, treatment and education programs. To learn more about Triple A or to donate to the foundation, visit http://www.athletesagainstautism.org/.
