Karl Alzner and Pick-a-Stick winnersWashington Capitals Charities raised $13,305 through their Pick-A-Stick fundraiser that took place at Verizon Center during the Caps game against the Bruins on Jan. 17. The fundraiser featured more than 200 hockey sticks signed by various Caps players and sold for $65 each. The sticks went on sale when doors to Verizon Center opened and were sold out only 35 minutes later.

Caps fans Rob Walburn, Scott Horvitz, Greg Simon, Ed McBride and Abby Stringham selected sticks that were not signed, and as a result got to meet Karl Alzner after the game. Alzner signed the winners’ hockey sticks and took photos with them.

The Capitals would like to congratulate our Pick-A-Stick grand-prize winners and thank all of the participants who helped make it a success.
