The Washington Capitals held a pep rally at Glebe Elementary School in Arlington, Va., on Monday, May 4. More than 100 third- and fifth-grade students gathered in the school’s gym for a pep rally hosted by the Caps staff and team mascot Slapshot. The students, who “Rocked the Red” in honor of the Caps, participated in cheers and showed their excitement for the upcoming Caps game against the Penguins.

The pep rally consisted of five stations where the students participated in interactive activities. Students played street hockey, took photographs with Slapshot, learned about and were able to try on official Capitals equipment, made signs to show their support for the Caps and took shots on goal at the inflatable Slapshot cage. When the students were finished at all the stations, they were given foam 8s and were able to check out Donald Brashear’s RV which was parked in front of the school. Before the end of the pep rally, the students cheered and chanted for the Caps, which proved to be good luck as the Caps defeated the Penguins later that evening at Verizon Center.
