Olie Kolzig Visits School in Support of Autism Awareness

Washington Capitals goaltender Olie Kolzig visited St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in Northwest Washington, D.C. Kolzig’s visit was inspired by Chloe Reid, a fifth-grader at St. Patrick’s, who raised $20,000 for Cure Autism Now’s Walk Now last year. She has already raised more than $3,000 for the 2007 Walk Now for Autism, and is encouraging her classmates to join in the fundraising.Kolzig spoke to the fifth-graders about autism, describing what it’s like for someone to live with the disorder. He also talked about raising an autistic child and explained the mission of the charity he co-founded, Athletes Against Autism. Kolzig answered questions about autism, his charity and hockey and signed autographs for all the students before he left.
