The game was shown on televisions throughout the restaurant; fans were able to take advantage of great drink specials and had a chance of winning autographed sticks, pucks and jerseys. The Red Rockers, WJFK’s Junkettes and Budweiser girls were all in attendance to add to the fun.
Allen Harper from Leesburg was in attendance with his wife. “I have been looking forward to wearing my jersey since the end of such an exciting season,” Allen said. “I couldn’t wait until the home opener, so we came out here to watch the Caps kickoff the season tonight!” Fans came from as far away as Richmond to watch the Caps and Thrashers, and most fans will be heading down to the Verizon Center on Saturday to watch the home opener against the Chicago Blackhawks at 7 p.m.
Many fans have high hopes for the Caps this year and are looking for them to not only win the Southeast Division championship again, but also to make it further in the playoffs and hopefully take home the Stanley Cup.
