Caps Fans Prepare to Rock the Red in Stanley Cup Playoffs
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will kick off their pursuit of the Stanley Cup with the Capital One Bank Rock the Red Rally on Wednesday, April 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. Fans can watch the team practice as it prepares for the NHL Eastern Conference quarterfinal playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens. Game 1, presented by Capital One Bank, will be played Thursday, April 15 at 7 p.m. at Verizon Center and available locally on Comcast SportsNet HD and 106.7 The Fan and Caps Radio 1500 and 820. Baltimore fans can tune-in Fox 1370.
 
106.7 The Fan pep rally live broadcast
The Mike Wise Show with Holden Kushner from 106.7 The Fan will broadcast live Wednesday from Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The Capital One Bank Rock the Red Rally will feature a variety of fun, interactive activities and include post-practice comments from coach Bruce Boudreau. Capital One Bank will be giving away rally towels to fans while Slapshot will be distributing prizes throughout the morning.
 
Capitals Red Line
The Caps Red Line Playoff Special presented by GEICO will air Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet and will feature Cruisin’ with Alex Ovechkin and a special one-on-one interview with general manager George McPhee. DC101’s Elliot Segal of the Elliot in the Morning Show, WashingtonCaps.com’s Mike Vogel and The Washington Examiner’s Brian McNally will discuss the first round matchups and break down the entire Caps roster as they head into the playoffs.
 
Rock the Hawk and Game 1 Viewing Party
Once again DC101’s Elliot in the Morning Show will Rock the Hawk, presented by Bud Light. Thursday, April 15, fans have a chance to get a Mohawk in Elliot’s DC101 studio and receive a ticket to that evening’s Game 1 between the Caps and Canadiens. Want a new look? Then show up at Elliot’s studios at 1801 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Md., at 5 a.m. for your opportunity to be randomly selected. That night Elliot also will host a pregame party at RFD beginning at 5:30 p.m., and fans who don’t have tickets to the game are encouraged to stay at RFD for the official Caps Home Game Viewing Party where they can win great Caps prizes throughout the evening.
 
Rock the Red contest
If Rocking the Red is what you do best, now is your opportunity to enter the How Are You Rocking the Red contest, presented by Red River. Fans are encouraged to submit photos showing their decorated house, office work space, cars, kids, pets and even themselves. Just log onto WashingtonCaps.com and upload your image. Fans will have a chance to win game tickets and other premium Caps giveaways at official viewing parties.
Game 1 (Thursday, April 15): RFD – 807 7th Street (one block from arena)
Game 2 (Saturday, April 17): Iron Horse Tavern – 507 7th Street (one block from arena)
Game 3 (Monday, April 19): Hard Times in Clarendon – 3028 North Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Va. A rally will begin at 5 p.m. in front of Hard Times and last until puck-drop at 7 p.m. Join in the fun and Rock the Red with Slapshot, the Red Rockers and 106.7 The Fan.
Game 4 (Wednesday, April 21): Union Jack’s in the Ballston Common Mall, 671 North Glebe Road, Arlington, Va.
 
Beard-a-thon
The Washington Capitals, along with media partners 106.7 The Fan and Comcast SportsNet, are encouraging fans to participate in one of hockey’s most visible traditions – the playoff beard. Beard-a-thon participants can invite family members, friends and business associates to pledge money for their playoff beard. Confirmed beard-growers include Capitals radio voice Steve Kolbe, public address announcer Wes Johnson, 106.7 The Fan’s John “Cakes” Auville from the Sports Junkies and LaVar Arrington and Chad Dukes from the LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes Show. Money will be donated to Fort Dupont Ice Arena for every day that a fan maintains his beard. Fans who do not wish to or are unable to grow a playoff beard can participate by pledging a donation to your favorite Caps player, fan or media personality. Watch and listen
Don’t miss any of the action this playoff season. All quarterfinal games will be broadcast live in high definition on Comcast SportsNet. Fans living outside the D.C. market can watch games Game 1 and 2 on Versus as well as Games 5 and 6, if necessary. 106.7 The Fan is your D.C.-area radio home for every game throughout the playoffs, while fans in Baltimore can tune to Fox 1370. Additional, WFED 1500 and 820 will carry Games 1 and 2 as well as Game 7, if necessary.
