Capitals Recall Defenseman Brian Fahey from Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Brian Fahey from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
 
A 6’1”, 215-pound native of Des Plaines, Illinois, Fahey is a veteran of 492 minor-league games who could make his NHL debut tonight in Nashville (8 p.m. ET, Comcast SportsNet, Caps Radio 1500 and 820 AM). Fahey, 29, is a seventh-year professional who was the last defenseman assigned to Hershey from the Capitals training camp. He has one goal and one assist and a +4 rating in two games with the Bears this season.
 
Fahey played last season with Lake Erie in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he had 11 goals and 25 points in 71 games. His most successful campaign came in 2007-08 with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL where he recorded 14 goals, 37 points and 123 penalty minutes in 76 regular-season games before recording eight assists and 10 points in 24 playoff games en route to a Calder Cup championship.
 
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Fahey was drafted in the fourth round, 119th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. He wears No. 44 with the Capitals.
