Capitals Recall Dany Sabourin from Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Dany Saborin to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Sabourin, 30, signed with the Caps as an unrestricted free agent in July. He was on the opening-night roster and backed up Michal Neuvirth in the first three games prior to being assigned to Hershey on Oct. 15. Sabourin went 1-1-0 with a 1.94 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage in three preseason games for the Capitals.

Sabourin (SA-boo-rihn) is 0-2-0 with Hershey this season with a 3.08 goals-against average and a .824 save percentage.

A 6’4”, 200-pound native of Val-d’Or, Quebec, Sabourin is in his 11th year as a professional. He has played 57 NHL games for Calgary, Pittsburgh and Vancouver. Sabourin played 43 games in the NHL in 2007-08 and ’08-09 while with the Penguins, posting a 16-17-3 record in that time.

Sabourin was originally a fourth-round choice, 108th overall, of Calgary in the 1998 NHL Draft.
