Capitals Assign Semyon Varlamov to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have assigned goaltender Semyon Varlamov to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
 
Varlamov (SEHM-yahn var-LA-mohv) is 0-1-0 in two appearances with the Capitals this season with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage. He has missed 12 games, including each of the last eight, due to injury.
 
The 6’2”, 207-pound native of Samara, Russia, has played 30 games in Hershey in the last two seasons with a 22-7-1 record. He was Washington’s first-round selection, 23rd overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
