Capitals Assign Todd Ford to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have assigned goaltender Todd Ford to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
 
Ford has split this season with Hershey and the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL).  Ford posted a 5-4-1 record with a 3.14 goals-against average and a .879 save percentage in 11 games with Hershey this season. In South Carolina, Ford has registered an 11-6-1 record with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
 
The 26-year-old goaltender went 7-5-1 with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage in 15 games with Portland and Texas in the AHL last season. Ford went 18-7-2 with South Carolina last season and ranked fifth in the ECHL with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.
 
Ford was selected to the First Team All-ECHL team and was voted the starting goaltender for the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game. Ford was drafted in the third round, 74th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
