Capitals Re-Sign Goaltender Dany Sabourin
ARLINGTON, VA. – The Washington Capitals have re-signed goaltender Dany Sabourin to a one-year, two-way contract extension, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A 6’4”, 208-pound native of Val-d’Or, Quebec, Sabourin (SA-boo-rihn) spent the 2010-11 season with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), posting a 14-9-0 record in 23 appearances with a 2.45 goals-against average, a .908 save percentage and two shutouts. The 11-year professional has played in 57 NHL games for Calgary, Pittsburgh and Vancouver.

Sabourin, who will turn 31 on Sept. 2, played 43 games in the NHL in 2007-08 and ’08-09 while with the Penguins, posting a 16-17-3 record in that time. He was named the AHL’s top goaltender in 2005-06 when he led the league with a 2.26 goals-against average with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Sabourin was originally a fourth-round choice, 108th overall, of Calgary in the 1998 NHL Draft.
