Caps@School is back for its third season. The Washington Capitals continue to bring the excitement of hockey to local classrooms. During the 2011-12 season the Capitals are making available to local educators Caps@School, a FREE, online curriculum-enhancing teaching tool for first- through sixth-grade classes. The Caps@School website features lesson plans with Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson, Mike Green, Brooks Laich, Michal Neuvirth, Alex Ovechkin, Tomas Vokoun and Joel Ward, player fun facts, stories and more. Teachers and students participating in Caps@School can win Chipotle burrito parties with visits by Capitals players and Slapshot as well as autographed memorabilia. The first 100 classes to register or sign back into the program will receive a gift from the Capitals!

Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., teachers can enroll their classes for FREE and start to download lesson plans immediately at the Caps@School website at http://www.CapsAtSchool.com/.

Caps@School was created to provide Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., elementary school educators with resources that combine the sport of hockey and Washington Capitals players to teach math, language, art, science, health and physical education. New for this season is a SMART Board lesson plan for third-grade classes as well as a Daily Physical Activity Kit encouraging students of all grade levels to stay active. This unique program offers engaging, classroom-ready lesson plans that will capture the attention of students and allow classes that complete the lesson plans the opportunity to win Caps prizes.
