Washington Capitals
Former Capital and NHL Hall-of-Fame defenseman Rod Langway will be joining the Capitals front office staff as a Capitals Ambassador. His primary responsibilities will be to represent the team in the community and spread the Capitals brand as well as grow the sport of hockey. He will work with various ice hockey and street hockey clinics, including visiting schools in the area, making special presentations at Caps games and attending community events.

Langway, known as the “Secretary of Defense,” anchored the Washington defense for 11 seasons and more than 700 games, helping lead the Capitals to their first postseason appearance in 1982-83. Washington made the playoffs during every season of Langway’s tenure and the rearguard won back-to-back Norris Trophy honors in 1982-83 and 1983-84. In 2002, Langway was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and is one of just four players, including head coach Dale Hunter, to have their number retired by the Capitals as his No. 5 hangs from the rafters at Verizon Center
