Capitals Host Pep Rally at McKinley Elementary School
Capitals alumnus and Comcast SportsNet analyst Alan May hosted the hour and a half long event, kicking off the rally by sharing with the students how meaningful their support is to the Capitals as they compete in the playoffs. He also led the students in a cheer as he introduced team mascot Slapshot.
Students then split up into five groups and headed to one of five stations, where they received a “Capitalize” Capitals playoff T-shirt. Through the stations students had the opportunity to: participate in an outdoor street hockey scrimmage, test their shot accuracy at the slapshot inflatable, take a photo with Slapshot, make signs in support of the Caps in the playoffs and participate in a hockey equipment demonstration.
May and Slapshot closed the event by thanking the students for their support and leading them in a celebratory wave and cheer. The Capitals also donated a set of street hockey equipment to the school.
