St. Martin’s Lutheran School of Annapolis wins Capitals round two pep rally
Congratulations to St. Martin’s Lutheran School of Annapolis, Md., for winning the Capitals round two pep rally contest. Math teacher Erin Kolarik submitted the school’s entry explaining how she and her students celebrated the Caps first round win.
Kolarik uses the Capitals as a way to make learning exciting and engaging. She incorporates math problems and activities that involve Caps players and statistics. After Game 7 Kolarik posted the warm-up problem shown in the photo on her chalkboard in recognition of the Capitals round one win. Kolarik also has game recap discussions with students during homeroom and focuses on the positive lessons that hockey can teach - teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication, hard work, positive attitude and determination.
To reward St. Martin’s and Kolarik for their support and spirit, the Caps will host a pep rally at the school on Monday, May 7.
Thanks to all the teachers and schools who submitted entries for the Capitals round two pep rally contest. There were many great submissions and it was difficult to choose just one winner.
