Capitals Re-sign Mike Carman

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have re-signed center Mike Carman to a one year extension, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Carman, 24, collected 18 points (10 goals, eight assists) in 60 games last season with Hershey and Lake Erie of the American Hockey League (AHL). He was acquired from Colorado for defenseman Danny Richmond on Feb. 2, 2012, and posted one goal in five postseason games with the Hershey Bears.

The native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, has collected 37 points (21 goals, 16 assists) and 110 penalty minutes in 139 career AHL games and was a member of Team USA at three different World Junior Championship tournaments from 2006-2008.

The 6’0”, 185-pound center was originally drafted by Colorado in the third round (81st overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
