ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals and Kettler Capitals Iceplex along with several Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia-area rinks will participate in USA Hockey’s Try Hockey for Free Day on Nov. 3. The event will help kick off the second annual Come Play Hockey Month, which takes place during the entire month of November.

Nearly 500 rinks across the country will invite boys and girls ages four to nine years old to “Try Hockey for Free” with clinics aimed to help kids experience ice hockey for the first time and learn the basics of the sport in a fun, safe environment.

Kettler Capitals Iceplex will host free hockey lessons from 9:40 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. on Saturday with Capitals assistant coach Tim Hunter helping run on-ice drills from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Sets of hockey equipment will be provided for new kids to borrow and all kids trying hockey for the first time will be given their own Capitals practice jersey. In addition to ice hockey, kids can try street hockey which will be set up at on the mezzanine level of Kettler and the Red Rockers will be in attendance to take photos and hand out giveaways.
