Washington Capitals
Tom Wilson and the Plymouth Whalers improved their record to 14-8-3-2 last week, good enough for second place in the OHL’s West Division. The Whalers spilt their two games last week, winning one and suffering a shootout loss. Wilson contributed a goal and an assist in the Whalers’ 4-1 win over the Ottawa 67’s on Nov. 30. A night later Plymouth fell to Kitchener in the shootout, 5-4, as Wilson added an assist. Wilson is one of 37 players who were invited this week to try out for a spot on Team Canada for the 2013 World Junior Championships. The camp runs from Dec. 11-13 and if selected, Wilson will represent Team Canada in Ufa, Russia, from Dec. 25 to Jan. 5. Tonight the Whalers will travel to Owen Sound of the Midwest Division. Later this week, they will face off against the fifth place Saginaw Spirit at Compuware Arena on Dec. 7.

Filip Forsberg is expected to return for Leksand from a hip injury tonight against Karlskrona. Forsberg missed seven games due to injury but is expected to be in the lineup tonight. He will try to get some action before turning his attention to the 2013 World Junior Tournament in Russia next month where he could potentially play against fellow Washington Capitals prospect Tom Wilson.
