Defenseman Christian Djoos notched his first points of the season for Bryans in the Swedish league Allsvenskan. In a game against Rogle on Jan. 16, he tallied an assist for his first point of the year. Two nights later (Jan. 18), Bryans would be tied 2-2 with Timra before Djoos scored the game-winner, his first goal of the season, with just under 10 minutes left. Djoos and Brynas will play Frolunda on Friday (Jan. 24), Asploven on Sunday (Jan. 26) and AIK next Tuesday (Jan. 29).
Connor Carrick and the Plymouth Whalers won two of the three games played last week. Carrick recorded a goal and two assists in the two Plymouth wins. One assist came on Jan. 18 against Mississauga on a goal that tied the game at 2-2 before Plymouth would go on to later win the matchup. On Jan. 21 against Erie, Carrick notched both a goal and an assist (both on power plays) in what would become a 7-1 win for the Whalers. Carrick and his team will play Windsor tomorrow night (Jan. 24) and Sarnia the two following nights (Jan. 25-26), making it three games in three consecutive days.
Caleb Herbert tallied a goal and an assist this week bringing his season points total to 13 (five goals, eight assists). Both scores came against Colorado College on Friday (Jan. 18) in what would be a 3-2 win for Minnesota-Duluth. Herbert would provide the assist for his school’s first goal of the game on a power play, and would put the game away in the final two minutes when he scored the game-winning goal. Herbert and his school will play the United States U-18 national team this Saturday (Jan. 26) for their only game this upcoming week.
