Valentine’s Day Puck Surprise Raises More Than $18,000 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation
The Washington Capitals raised $18,400 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation through the team’s Valentine’s Day Puck Surprise, which took place at the Caps game against the Florida Panthers on Feb. 9. The fundraiser featured 460 pucks that were packaged with Hershey’s Kisses and signed by various Capitals players and sold for $40 each. Fans lined up on the concourse to purchase the pucks as soon as they went on sale when the doors opened to Verizon Center. The pucks were sold out in less than an hour.
Jay Cline, Rhonda Day, Donny Martin, Ken Myers and Kaden Werts were the Valentine’s Day Puck Surprise winners. The five winners selected unsigned pucks and got to meet Caps forward Nicklas Backstrom after the Caps victory. Backstrom signed their pucks and took photos with the winners.
All proceeds from the Spring Puck Surprise benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards.
The Capitals would like to congratulate our Valentine’s Day Puck Surprise winners and thank all of the fans who helped make it a success.
