Spring Puck Surprise Raises $18,000 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation
The Washington Capitals raised $18,000 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation through the team’s Spring Puck Surprise, which took place at the Caps game against the Carolina Hurricanes on April 11. The fundraiser featured 450 pucks that were packaged with Hershey’s Kisses and signed by various Capitals players and sold for $40 each. Fans lined up on the concourse to purchase the pucks as soon as they went on sale when the doors opened to Verizon Center. The pucks were sold out before the puck dropped to start the game.
Daniel Brown, Amy Lopez, Gabbie Morris, Jerry Negin and Stephanie Turner were the Spring Puck Surprise winners. The five winners selected unsigned pucks and got to meet Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin after the Caps victory. Ovechkin signed their pucks and took photos with the winners.
All proceeds from the Spring Puck Surprise benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards.
The Capitals would like to congratulate our Spring Puck Surprise winners and thank all of the fans who helped make it a success.
