Comcast SportsNet, Capitals Announce 73-Game Schedule for 2013-14 NHL Season

Live Coverage to include 71 regular-season and 2 preseason games; Capitals Central and Capitals Postgame Live to return this season; All 82 regular-season games to be available on NBC Sports Group Networks

Comcast SportsNet, Capitals Announce 73-Game Schedule for 2013-14 NHL Season

Bethesda, Md. – Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic and the Washington Capitals have announced the team’s 73-game regional television schedule for the 2013-14 NHL season. The network’s live coverage will include 71 regular-season games, two preseason games and extensive game-day coverage with Capitals Central and Capitals Postgame Live.

Through Comcast SportsNet, NBCSN and NBC, the Capitals’ entire 82-game regular-season schedule will be televised throughout the region by the NBC Sports Group. As previously announced, NBCSN and NBC will air exclusive national coverage of a combined 11 Capitals games this season.

Comcast SportsNet’s live coverage of the 2013-14 Capitals will begin with preseason games against Boston in the 2013 Baltimore Hockey Classic on Sept. 17 (7 p.m.) and against Philadelphia at Verizon Center on Sept. 27 (7 p.m.) The network’s regular-season schedule will start with the Capitals home opener Oct. 3 against Calgary (7 p.m.)

Comcast SportsNet’s live game coverage will be led by seven-time Emmy Award-winning play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati, veteran analyst Craig Laughlin and longtime reporter Al Koken, who are entering their 17th consecutive season together.

Capitals Central and Capitals Postgame Live return this season to provide expanded pre- and post-game news, analysis and interviews. Alan May will again serve as analyst, with Koken (road games) and Rob Carlin (home games) alternating as host. Beninati, Laughlin, Capitals TV beat reporter Jill Sorenson and Capitals Insider Chuck Gormley will contribute to the coverage. Extensive Capitals content will also be featured on the network’s news and analysis programs, including Geico SportsNet Central and SportsTalk Live, and digital platforms, which are highlighted by CSNwashington.com.

Comcast SportsNet’s coverage of the upcoming Capitals’ season will include 63 games on Comcast SportsNet and 10 games on Comcast SportsNet Plus.
