Jason Chimera Named NHL’s “Third Star” of the Week
ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals left wing Jason Chimera has been named the NHL’s “Third Star” for the week ending Nov. 3, the NHL announced today.
Chimera tied for the NHL lead with six points (two goals, four assists) in three games last week, helping the Capitals pick up four out of a possible six points. He registered two points (one goal, one assist) against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 28, his second multi-point game of the season. Chimera then posted a career-high four points (one goal, three assists) in a 7-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 1, stretching his goal-scoring streak to a career-long four games (10/24-11/1: four goals, five assists). His three assists also matched a career high, first accomplished on March 25, 2007. The 34-year-old Edmonton, Alberta, native has played in 14 games this season, ranking fourth on the Capitals with 11 points (five goals, six assists).
