Joel Ward to Throw Out Ceremonial First Pitch on Jackie Robinson Day at Nationals Park
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals, in conjunction with the Washington Nationals, today announced that forward Joel Ward will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Jackie Robinson Day at Nationals Park on Thursday, April 17. Ward will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Nationals game against the St. Louis Cardinals, which is slated to begin at 7:05 p.m.
Ward wears jersey No. 42 for the Capitals in honor of Jackie Robinson’s contribution to sports, society and Civil Rights Movement. The Toronto native set career highs in goals (24), assists (25) and points (49) this season and ranked third among Washington skaters and points and goals.
