Washington Capitals Chris Brown and Stanislav Galiev Participate in D.C. Public Schools Beautification Day
ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals forwards Chris Brown and Stanislav Galiev participated in D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) Beautification Day on Aug. 23 at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School in Washington, D.C.
Beautification Day was established in 2005 as an annual citywide “spruce up” of D.C. Public Schools prior to the first day of school.
Joined by 80 volunteers, Red Rockers and Wizard Girls, Brown and Galiev worked on several projects to prepare the school for the upcoming academic year, including painting, cleaning and gardening.
“We were excited to join fans in getting Drew Elementary ready for the new year,” said Brown. “The volunteers worked hard with the school community to create a special environment for the kids, and we hope the children have a great year.”
The date marked the second year all three Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) teams hosted a Beautification Day project on behalf of MSE Foundation and the sixth year the Capitals partnered with DCPS and Serve DC – The Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism to participate in Beautification Day.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the professional teams under its umbrella: the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards. MSE is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball and hockey, education and scholarship, pediatric health and fitness, military and veterans' affairs and hunger and homelessness.
