Convention Details Revealed

The inaugural Capitals Convention is this Saturday, Sept. 26, and we have received an extremely enthusiastic response from our fans. We are looking forward to an exciting, full-day of activities and are expecting more than 5,000 people at this sold-out event. Here is the up-to-date Convention timeline and layout.

TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT

More than 5,000 tickets were sold for the first-ever Capitals Convention at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md. Head lining the event will be NHL commissioner Gary Bettman who will join chairman and majority owner Ted Leonsis to address fans and field questions on the state of the league with Elliot Segal from DC 101's Elliot in the Morning as one of the emcees for the event. In addition, fans will be able to sit in on panel discussions that feature general manager George McPhee and head coach Bruce Boudreau and a number of current and former Capitals players, including Hall of Famer Rod Langway, Al Iafrate, Dennis Maruk and Kelly Miller. This will be the first chance for fans to meet the 2009-10 Capitals team.

The festivities will begin at 9 a.m. for season ticket holders and 10 a.m. for the general public and will conclude at 8 p.m.


Interactive Games
There will be dozens of interactive games for fans of all ages.

Interactives will include: Four full size rinks, a shooting game, two junior rinks, a Convention photo booth where fans can take pictures in a Caps-specific cutout, and a game zone where fans can enjoy bubble hockey, air hockey and hockey video games.  There will also be hockey breakout sessions where you can learn skills first-hand


Panel Sessions
The centerpiece of the Convention will be more than a dozen behind the scenes panels focusing on all things Capitals.

These interactive panel sessions will give the fans insite into the day to day operations of the organization never before discussed in a public forum. Prior to the convention, fans will also be able to vote on other panels that they would like to see.


Interactive Displays
Looking for hockey history we have that covered:
  • A mural featuring the history of the Capitals
  • Original Six Hockey: with historical lockers and museum artifacts
  • Capitals themed locker room display
  • Legends of the game hockey display with murals depicting legendary players of the
  • NHL and historical displays of players


Player Autographs
The day will include autographs and photos from current Caps and alumni players with fans. All fans purchasing tickets will be guaranteed autographs from at least two current Caps players.


NHL Trophies
A display of all the NHL's prominent trophies including the Hart Memorial Trophy presented to the NHL Most Valuable Player.


Equipment Sale
Select pieces of Capitals game and practice used equipment as well as new equipment will be made available for purchase.
