Alumni Goalie Contest

The Washington Capitals have selected four seasoned goaltenders to play in the Washington Capitals Alumni Game on Sept.ember, 19, at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va.

Congratulations to the four winners of our alumni goalie contest! Fans voted to choose the two starters for Thursday's alumni game selecting Matt Tendler with 46.53% of the votes and Al Rooney with 37.98% of the votes.

Tickets for the game are still available for $10.
All proceeds go to the Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation.

Playing Bio - I started playing hockey when I was 4 years old.  I played locally, in the Philadelphia area until 19 with the Philadelphia Little Flyers organization. Next, I played with the Brockville Braves organization for two years in the Central Junior "A" hockey league in Canada until committing to play NCAA DIII hockey with Neumann University. In 2009, we were NCAA DIII National Champions. At the conclusion of my senior year, I had a brief stay with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League in 2012.  Now I run my own goaltending training program called "The Goalie Doctor". I coach a number of tier 1 youth programs, Junior "A" teams, as well as the NCAA DIII men's and woman's teams at Neumann University.

Playing Bio: I Coach hockey for a living as well and am looking forward to meeting him and hearing his insight. As well as remember seeing him play many times back in the day.
Playing Bio: Played 2 years of Junior hockey in North Dakota and Minnesota, then played my college hockey at Buffalo State in Buffalo,NY. I left school early to sign first pro contract, minor league deal with the Florida Panthers my rookie year in 96-97, attended Islanders training camp in 97-98 and spent 8 seasons total playing in the CHL and some other minor leagues. Upon retiring in 2003-04 season, have Coached at the High School, Junior and Pro level of hockey, winning 3 championships in 8 seasons.
